The forgotten post: Moose Mountain

You know you’re a bad blogger when …..

I was looking through my drafts when I noticed an unfinished post about training on Moose Mountain. Rachel and I went up Moose more than a month ago! I can’t believe I forgot to post about our adventure.

Since my memory is bad lately, I think I will just go ahead and post the photos from that day.

What I do remember is chatting up the new fire lookout person at the summit. For a brief moment, I wanted to do this. The whole idea of living alone on top of a mountain sounds very romantic. Think Walden or Life in the Woods by Henry David Thoreau.

Alas the idea of having no time to run or take a real day off tossed that plan out the door.

Harold was (of course) doing repeats on Moose. I don’t know how he does it. Nice to see someone with so much determination!  I love signing the guest book. Sometimes I write in other languages like French or Spanish. My Korean Hangul is awful so I haven’t even tried. I’m sure someone would think my script was written by a two-year-old.

I think this is a peace symbol gone wrong. Not sure what I am doing with my right hand.

Me: Take me to your leader. Rachel: What the hell are you doing?

I heading to Station Flats tomorrow morning for a solo run up Moose Mountain. I hope my Versa makes it. I received a letter in the mail today โ€“ I am behind on three safety recalls. I asked the Nissan guy if the recalls were serious. He kinda laughed and said, “yeah but don’t worry about it. You’ve been driving this long and nothing went wrong.”

Well, that’s reassuring.
