Nothing beats the thrill of a winter run than one with a bunch of cool (in this case cold) runners. I met the Running Room gang at the usual 8:30 a.m. meeting time. Getting up was a hard go but I knew I would regret not getting my sorry butt out of bed. It was great to see Laura and Pam again. It’s been months since I ran with the RR crew.
I picked Brent up on the way. There may have been some arm twisting involved but I think he enjoyed the run in the end. Brent and Sona are not early risers so it can be a challenge to convince Brent to get his lazy butt out of bed for an early run.
We ran 8K at a decent pace. I felt fantastic. I could have run for hours. After our run, we warmed up with some coffee at Second Cup. We got to talking about snowshoeing. The next thing I knew I was in line at Atmosphere to pay for a pair of snowshoes. (On a side note, I met some Running with Rhyno fans while picking out the snowshoes. I was recognized from my column photo. It was nice to hear some positive feedback.)
Getting back to the snowshoes, I have wanted to buy them or skis for a long time. I scored these beauties at nearly half the regular price. (Thank you Boxing Day sales!) I am holding out on the skis. They are just not in my budget right now. I would love to have both but there are only so many hours in the day.
Besides the snowshoes (running, crossfit and yoga) will keep me plenty busy this winter. I can’t wait to go snowshoeing.
Do you snowshoe?
Any tips for a newbie?
Snowsoe envy!! Those are beauties. I have Atlas snowshoes, but backcountry/trekking ones. I hope to rent from MEC to try out the running ones and give it a go as well. I look forward to reading about your snowshoe/running adventures 🙂
I’ve never gone snowshoeing, but it’s on my to-do list! I do like XC skiing, so it seems like I’d love snowshoeing. Now if we’d get some snow…
I can send you some snow 🙂
I’m a big fan of snowshoeing and cross country skiing – planning to do both during my lunch hours once we get a little more snow!
That’s awesome! Love it too
