Shaking up my training

I always have to drag my sorry butt out of the bed the morning after a late night. Every other Monday I work until about 10 p.m. Of course I have so much energy that it’s impossible to get to sleep as soon as I get home. And when I do it’s a groggy one.

I hate to miss crossfit but I don’t like to throw up weights when I am half asleep. It’s just not a good combination.

For the last couple Tuesdays I went to the X-Bike classes at 9 a.m. It’s basically a spin class with some WOD thrown in the mix. They are freaking killer workouts.

This past Tuesday was especially hard. Our coach Carla led us in a card game of sorts on the bike. The suit would dictate what we did on the bike. So if she drew a 10 of diamonds, we would sprint for 1 minute.
But as luck would have it she drew a lot of back-to-back clubs (standing climb) and spades (and sitting climb). I had sweat dripping from my forehead onto the floor. I can’t remember the last time I sweat so much!
Gosh it was challenging. My legs were on fire and I had to take a couple “moments” to catch my breath. This isn’t a typical spin class where you spend the entire class on the bike (thank Buddha). We spend half or more in this case on the bike and the remaining time doing a WOD.
I love the diversity.  I think we should all shake up our workouts from time to time.
