Plotting my Garden

I am growing my own again this year.
I am sharing a community garden plot with Jack, a former colleague, and his wife Lisa. Our plot is next to last year’s plot in Parkside. I am crossing my fingers the soil will be good to us. I had such great luck last year

I planted a variety of vegetables: kale, spinach, lettuce swiss chard, carrots, cucumbers, beans, peas and peppers. I didn’t plant the rows very straight. Now it’s difficult to tell where they are. Oops. I hope it becomes clearer once everything starts growing.

Jack sprinkled some holy water onto our plot after we planted. I am not sure where he got it from. I didn’t ask too many questions. Jack is just as excited as I am about the garden.
I have been lugging water to the garden every other day. It’s been a dry June so far. My garden needs the water especially in these early days. (Driving across town to carry water to my plot is becoming a pain in the butt.)

At least I know something will grow on this plot – the weeds. I like to look at weeding as “bonus exercise.” I just hope I am pulling out the weeds and not the plants. It feels good to get some dirt under my fingernails.

Now let it rain.

  1. Gardening is so much fun, I'm just getting into it this year. We don't have a plot but some space on our deck. Looks like you've got a lot of land to work with!
