Go on then, run

Sometimes I feel like I need a crash course in running. I returned to the road for a few runs over the last few days. I thought I would test how fast and how far my chubby legs would take me.

Um turns out … not far and not very fast.

I learned quickly that running all these slow, long distances is doing nothing for my road pace. Sure I feel strong but I was seriously dying when I attempted to “run fast” for more than a kilometre.

The good news is that I felt super strong on the hills. I didn’t break my stride while bounding up a few good ones tonight. (#Success) I really, really need to get back to tempo and speed workouts โ€“ at least once a week. I’m all over the map these days. Seriously.

Another thing .. I have been leaving my iPhone at home on my runs. Not sure how it happened but I got into the habit of bringing it along for my runs.

Yes it’s great to bring a phone along for safety and such. But for me, someone who finds it extremely difficult to focus, it’s one big distraction. I will pass by something that I think would make a nice picture then I will stop to take one. I’m constantly taking pictures in my head. With my iPhone in hand, I have no restraint. I have to stop and this messes up my pace and my run. I need to stop this foolish behaviour. Maybe there’s a support group out there?
Happy Wednesday!

  1. That exact same thing has happened to me before when I've been focusing on long slow distance. It has been helped recently by racing to keep me sharp.

I have to tell you that yesterday I ended up buying a new car: a Nissan Versa Note! I think you said you are also a Versa lady? ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. AWESOME! I love my blueberry Versa. It really stands out in this province of "the bigger the truck, the better!" Ha ha Enjoy your new wheels! What color?
