I set out around 8:30 a.m. for my planned 32 kilometre run. I didn’t have much of a route in mind because I usually end up covering the same ground. Once again I begged Brent to run a few kilometres with me. I love running alone but on some of these long runs I just want company.
It had rained overnight. Fortunately the rain stopped in time for my run. These leaves were the first bit of colour I had seen in the first hour of my run.
This picture exemplified my mood at 12K. I wanted to stop. I wanted sunshine. I seemed to be the only moron out running in this gloomy weather.
This is a shot of the “dome building” in the city’s former Civic Yards. Soon it will be demolished.
I love running over bridges. A few weeks ago, I tripped on some hard ice and nearly tumbled into the Red Deer River. I laugh at it now but I was traumatised at the time. Now everytime I run over a bridge I am very careful because I could fall in the River or worse drop my iPhone into the river. Shudder.
Eventually the sun did come out! Here’s a shot of Heritage Ranch from a footbridge. My mood improved immediately! Brent had joined me by now and I knew I was in the home stretch.
The ice is finally starting to melt. We saw a couple people fishing in the distance. I showed Brent the place where the windmill used to be. Still no idea what happened to it. There’s still an orange City of Red Deer cone in its place.
Here’s our obligatory selfie. Ever try to take pictures with your iPhone on days when you can’t see the screen? We lucked out with this shot.
I was so done in after my 33K run. (I miscalculated some distance.) I took a nice ice bath and drank copious amounts of coffee after I peeled myself up from the pavement. Only one more 20-miler to go in this training cycle! Whoo hoo!
Check out pictures from my first 20-miler earlier this month.
Your run shots are always so beautiful! Congrats on your big 2-0-!

Awesome run!! Love the shots throughout!

It was gloomy here today on my run and the sun never came out. Sigh. You need to give a tutorial on how to take great long-run photos!
Thanks ๐
Wow, beautiful pictures! Hard to believe there are still areas with ice, now that we're finally embracing spring in my area. I nominated you for a Liebster Award, hope you play along! http://runwithnoregrets.blogspot.com/2014/04/penn-relays-liebster-award.html
Wait.. what..??? The windmill is gone? ๐ Awesome job on your run Crystal! You deserve to drink copious amounts of coffee! Nice work!
I know! I keep forgettint to call the city to find out what happened!
