My Crossfit second coming: Update

I wanted to give you an update on how things have been going at my new Crossfit box.

One word? FANTASTIC.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still bloody hard but I love every minute of it! The WODS are TOUGH. Hand stand push up? Muscle up? Not a chance …  yet.

This past week I went to three 6:15 a.m classes. Getting out of bed at 5 a.m. is no easy feat either. But now that I am in marathon training mode, I have to stick to the schedule. No questions.

First things first, I really, really like the huge emphasis on warming up our muscles before the WOD. Burpees. Mountain climbers. Push ups. Running. Jumping Jacks. Yup they are all in there – Every. Single. Time. And if you survive the warm up … there’s the WOD.

Our WODS this week had everything from wall balls, snatch, pull ups, front squat to thrusters. I know it’s been less than a month but I feel pretty badass. We do so many freaking push ups every day that I can see the beginnings of muscle definition in my triceps. Kelly and I were joking that we better be buff at the end of this challenge or we might as well throw in the towel.

Our challenging WODs have left us feeling sore the next day. It’s great to have that “I can barely move X body part” feeling again. I’m back to paying more attention to my core and improving my mobility. There hasn’t been a mobility class since Amy moved to Australia but there is someone who is offering mobility and PT services. Must check that out next week!

Yup I have found my confidence again. I don’t care so much that I am at the bottom at the whiteboard. One day at a time!

How was your week?

  2. You are a trooper to get out of bed that early….really, hats off to you! I love your tank top 😀

  3. I did the Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30 workout this morning and it kicked my butt. I don't sweat that much when I run 10k in the middle of summer!!! She said something during the workout that stuck with me….It's not a destination, it's a journey…and you need to show up EVERY DAY! Who cares where you are on the whiteboard girl…you are showing up EVERY DAY! Keep up the awesomeness!!!!!

    1. Thanks! I need to remember that. Maybe I will write that on my motivation board (yes I have a motivation board 🙂

  4. When my cousin was doing cross fit she PB'd on a half marathon doing way less running. Cross training makes you stronger!

    1. I think it's all those damn squats 🙂 Yes I think so too. I started last year & I do not get as many injuries.
