5 Things this Week Taught Me

Happy Friday.

I had a super busy and stressful week. But out of the days of pure madness, I found some gems of goodness.

1. Nothing beats spending time with old friends. I spent some time with two amazing women from my past life in Ottawa. It was awesome to chat about old days and to gossip a little about other friends. Hands down, this was the highlight of my week.
2. No matter how tired you are, a dose of fresh air will set you right. I often stay at my desk during lunch hour. I like to get caught up on reading and try to make some phone calls. I always feel like there’s never enough time in the work day. But this week I made sure to go outside and take a short walk to clear my head and to reset for the rest of the afternoon. Worked like a charm.
3. Running in the dark without a headlamp makes you a badass. This wasn’t planned. I’m one of those cautious and safe runners. Not being able to see where I was going definitely improved my pace.
4. Shaking up your workouts can be fun. My goal is to move for an hour every day. No excuses. I swam 20 laps at the pool on Monday. I am not a swimmer. I never took lessons. But I didn’t want to run so I decided to give my legs some rest and get in some cardio at the same time. Loved it.
5. A spoonful of peanut butter curves your cravings at 3 a.m. I woke up last night starving. I didn’t eat much for dinner so that was my own fault. I opened my cupboard and grabbed my jar of peanut butter. I opened it and took a spoon to the inside. Tasty! It hit the spot. Back to bed I went and no more cravings!
That was my week! Now on to the weekend. I have another 20 mile run planned for Sunday and a track workout tomorrow. No “other” fun planned. Training for my marathon is the only fun I am allowing myself until December. Some call it boring, I call it
How’s your weekend shaking up?
