Tuesday musings & Melissa’s Road Race

I’m getting excited about Melissa’s Road Race in Banff later this month. This has to be one of the most popular races in Alberta. Registration sells out within an hour. As fate would have it, I was one of the lucky ones in this year’s 22K field.

My pal, Tiffany will be racing the 10K. She’s been having ongoing issues with just about every bone in her body so this will be a great comeback race for her. This past weekend she returned to the starting line for a trail run in Grande Prairie. I’m looking forward to hanging out with her and Corey in Banff!

I’m a little at odds. I feel like I barely raced this year. My races were really spread out. My 50K was in May and I ran a 6K trail run and 21K on back to back days in July. Yes, you wonder, what the heck have I been doing? (When I find out, I will let you know.)

Right now I am crossing my fingers, my legs and everything else that I will be healthy for Melissa’s. My right foot/hamstring is annoying as heck. Hills may have been the culprit that brought on the aggravation. I am finished with them for now.

Yesterday I gave my legs a lot of TLC. And I plan to do much over the next three weeks. I don’t want to ruin or drop out of the race dealing with an injury. I am looking forward to running in beautiful Banff.
