But I knew I had to. I splashed lots of cold water on my face. I tried to wake myself out of my funk by doing a few dynamic stretches. I was pressed for time so I skipped my green smoothie. I probably wouldn’t have been able to keep it down anyway. Gosh I only had 4 glasses of wine. I must be outgrowing my tolerance for the wine.
Cheryl and Kevin were already there when I arrived. There were about six or 7 new people. Wade spent a lot of time showing them the warm up and squat techniques and other things.
Wade informed us that today we would do a squat, push up and pull up test. We’d take these numbers and apply them to our WOD. Ugh. Just want I needed. Did I mention I hate tests?
First up we did as many squats as possible with proper technique. We grabbed a medicine ball, put it slightly behind us and got down to business. I knew how ever I played it I would be hurting. I managed 70 squats before my heart rate started soaring. Done.
We moved to pushups. I did 20. Then pull ups. I did 8. Like I said. I hate tests.
Our WOD:
200 metre run
3 rounds of 50% squats, 50% push ups and 50% pull ups.
200 metre run
I’m not sure how Wade figured out my numbers but I did 50 squats, 12 push ups and 4 pull ups. Ouch.
As soon as I stepped outside to run, I could feel my quads screaming bloody murder. This would be a tough workout. I forgot to look at the clock when I was finished. Despite my legs being on fire, I felt pretty good.
I want to start going to CrossFit in the mornings. The start time is 6 a.m. for the regular sessions. Can’t wait to get out of bed at 5:20 a.m. Not so much. But by working out in the mornings, I’ll have more time to run in the evenings. I’m about to get back into training mode again so I have to make some changes to my schedule. Hope this does the trick.
