Putting the pull into the pose technique

It’s Monday so that means another CrossFit Endurance session. I went to the class focused and ready to work. To be honest, I haven’t been focusing on my technique much outside of the sessions. I had so much going on with my marathon prep that focusing on the pose technique was the last thing on my mind.

But tonight that all changed as I walked into the gym ready to embrace CFE with mind and body.

There were three of us tonight โ€“ myself, Brenda and Kelly. As you can see from the board, we did a short warm up, some balance work and pulling drills.

The pose method is broken down to the “figure-four”position, the fall and the pull. It’s all so complicated and technical. My head spins when I think about it. You really have to be aware of your body.

Like tonight for instance I was having a really challenging time with the “pull.” Instead of moving my feet off the ground with my hamstrings, I was using my hips or just lifting my legs completely wrong. It was very frustrating to say the least.

Thankfully Tablot is a great instructor and he took the time to help me understand what I was doing wrong. I felt good by the end of the WOD. Granted I do have a lot of work ahead but at least my head is in the game.

I’m also consciously trying to not sway my arms in front of my body. I noticed that immediately when Tablot recorded us a few weeks ago. All these thoughts in my head are driving me nuts. I just want to run better. Is that so wrong? Technical stuff drives me bonkers.

My classmates, on the other hand, are doing amazing. It’s almost funny. I am the marathon runner. And I suck the most. I’m fine with this though. We’re all on our own journey, right? Do me a favour? Keep sending those positive vibes.
