Forget Dry January. I am doing something much more fun and exciting.
I’m embarking on a journey that is not just dry but also promises to be fun and exciting. I am diving deeper into the world of non-alcoholic beers and wines, providing you with my reviews of the latest on the market.
Non-alcoholic drinks are simply beverages that do not contain alcohol so that could be orange juice or even water. But in the beer and spirit world, it is beer that has had it’s alcohol removed and spirits with no alcohol.
In recent years there has been a huge surge of non-alcoholic beers, spirits and wines on the market. The craft beer scene, in particular, has seen the emergence of non-alcoholic counterparts that taste just like the real deal – far cry from the early days of lacklustre imitations.
Why the dry run challenge?
I like drinking alcohol but I don’t like the effects on my body, and my mental health. I don’t have a drinking problem (I swear) but I have watched how the effects of alcohol can ruin lives. It breaks my heart. I saw this up close when I visited my parents for the first time in 10 years last fall.
Besides there’s no nutritional value in alcohol. As a somewhat healthy person, I question why I am ingesting this poison into my body. I have noticed that even just one glass of wine interrupts my sleep, and I love to sleep.
So if I could do something this simple (switching to no booze drinks) to contribute to improved health and well being, why not?
The plan and the dry run rating system
This will be more than just a sip. I will evaluate each beer/wine on four criteria: name bling, (creativity), sip’n savour (taste), wallet wellness index (value for money) and label love level (packaging/presentation).

Stay tuned as I unveil my first sips in the world of non-alcoholic beers, spirits and wines. I would love to hear your suggestions and your reviews of your non-alcoholic beverages. I have (almost) convinced a couple of friends to write reviews too.
Have you ever participated in Dry January? How did it go? How about trying non-alcoholic beverages? I would love to hear from you in the comments below.
Excited to follow along and to see your reviews! I’ve been enjoying some good mock tails so far. We made a shrub last week that is delicious with tonic and soda water.

Will enjoy following your journey into non alcoholic beverages. Started dry January as I just didn’t want alcohol after being sick but back to my glass of wine with supper.
Thank you for reading!
