I usually head to the mountains on the weekends. Any opportunity to get outside, I am there. You know this if you have been following my blog for awhile.
This past weekend was no different. Saturday I joined Kelsey and Laurent for a jaunt up Wasootch Ridge. I had been up the mountain as recent as November but I never tire of the views. Besides you never no what adventure lies ahead for you that day.
Slippery to start, the trail was a mixture of snow and bare spots. We removed our spikes on one section so it was less of a headache switching between dirt and snow. It was a great morning catching up and chatting about races, strength training, mobility and goals for the year.
(Kelsey recently took a new massage job at Peak Health & Performance. Be sure to check it out if you need a massage.)
Thankfully Mother Nature was mostly on our side. It was one of those days where you were constantly putting on and removing your gloves. We didn’t see many people on the trail, which was surprising because it was such a nice winter day. And both Hwy 1 and Hwy 40 were crazy busy.
While I am in the maintain my fitness, work on my strength and mobility stage, I had to get some running. I headed to Moose Mountain Road on Sunday morning. I was undecided up to the point I got into my car. I wanted to summit another peak but I need to run. (I am secretly training for Gord’s Frozen Ass Fifty.)
Surprisingly the road was very quiet – save for a few mountain bikers. I felt really strong running up the road but my hammie gave out a bit on the downhill (the best part).
How was your weekend? Do you like to stay busy or do you like to veg? I would love to hear from you in the comments below.
