Everything may seem upside down right now but I’m here to remind you, the world can be a beautiful place.
I only have to drive less than 45 minutes down the highway from my place in Calgary before the views of the glorious Canadian Rockies begin to come in view. I know not everyone is lucky to live so close to the mountains.
But I know most people have a a sanctuary, a calming place to go when it feels like the world is falling apart.
So I encourage you to find your happy place and take a time out. You deserve it.
2020 has been no joke. The world we live in today is unprecedented, unpredictable and down right scary.
Who would have thought when we were toasting in the new year on December 31 that a short three months later that we would be in the early days of a worldwide pandemic? That social distancing, COVID testing and quarantine would (likely) become the most uttered words in the ensuing months? Not this woman.
Life as we knew it post March will never be the same again. The pandemic has changed our day to day. I think we all know that by now. Because the curve in Alberta is no where close to being flatten, I think we have a long haul ahead of us here.
People are suffering financially and emotionally. I am fortunate to still have a job but I admit it hasn’t always been smooth sailing emotionally. I have struggled with the loneliness of living alone and working at home alone. As I mentioned previously, the first few months were rough and I coped by eating and drinking my emotions.
Thankfully I persevered and dug myself out of that dark hole. Once again I began doing all the things that make me happy. If you’re not there yet, it’s okay to not be okay. Take your time. Talk to someone or not. Work through out.
One thing I learned through this pandemic is that there is no greater time to live your best life because life is so darn short. During this pandemic, I have found beauty in the friendships I have and beauty in the way people are looking out for one another.
We are a resilient bunch โ we humans. We can get through this together.
What has the pandemic taught you? What have you learned about yourself? I would love to hear from you in the comments below.
