I logged 95 kms on my feet last week.
I say “logged” because my mileage was a combination of running and hiking. Bottom line? I’m thrilled that I surpassed my goal for the week. Finally! Over the last couple of months, I have struggled to clock 80 kms each week. Because I have not been running/training as much as I would like to be right now, I dropped out of Iron Legs. I had planned to run the 60K this coming weekend.
But I know my body and my mind so I thought it would be in my best interest to defer until next year. However, I am definitely still in the running (groan) to start Lost Soul in less than a month!
I am actually quite excited about the race. I’m now in the heavy phase of my training, where all the magic happens. Technically I have three long training runs left before I taper. A week before the race, I will dial down my running. I know some people like to taper for two to three weeks but honestly I am not running enough for a longer taper.
I have scheduled my long runs on Saturdays because the race is on a Saturday. Last week I ran 30K on mostly asphalt in Red Deer before I drove to the mountains. I wanted to ensure that I spent some quality time on my feet. I admit it was not easy. Especially when I under calculate the distance. I hate making up the distance after I have been running for several hours.
Not sure where I am running this weekend. Likely I will head to Kananaskis on Saturday or Sunday since I was in David Thompson last weekend.
Decisions. Decisions.
What are you up to this weekend?
lol Nobody wants me take off my shirt but I will still jump in the water! Too bad you have so many decisions to make, I’m really glad I don’t have to decide what mountain to go to next………lol
you are funny!
