While I was about to begin my run down Prairie Mountain, a hiker on her way up asked if I wanted to go down the mountain with her group . At first, I wasn’t sure what she was talking about or if she was even talking to me. She explained there was a Prairie Loop, where you come down where you started. I quickly looked over the group and decided they didn’t look like kidnappers or whatever.
Another way down Prairie? Count me in.
Fast forward to a group photo, a lunch break, a heard of sheep and I had officially done the Prairie Loop. The hikers are part of the infamous Rocky Mountain Ramblers Association, a group “dedicated to outdoor pursuits.” In one form or another group has been going strong for decades.
I was lucky to be in such great company. These guys and gals definitely know their stuff. I enjoyed chatting with them while we made our way down the mountain.
All this time I had been doing the up and down route on Prairie. It’s always refreshing to shake things up. I really, really liked this change of scenery.
Then there were cows …. we hiked through a pasture of cows and their offspring. They didn’t give us much attention save for moving out of the way when we mooooved by them.
Another day, another view. I never get tired of this pose.
