I signed up for the Eyeball on the Wall race on Saturday. I will run two loops around the South Glenmore Reservoir for a 30K distance.
After I hit confirm, I immediately thought – What am I doing?
Sure I’ve been feeling great lately but that does not necessarily mean I am ready to go all out in a race especially in a road race.
What am I thinking?
Right now I am thinking Eyeball the Wall is a super weird name for a race. (What does it mean?) I am also hoping my legs will hold out for three hours or so on pavement.
No doubt I can run 30K but it will be more a question of how much do I want to hurt during the race? Not much. That’s why I am calling it a $45 “training run” with random people.
Quite frankly I have missed the race atmosphere and I want to soak it up for inspiration. Runners are pretty awesome. I run alone mostly so it’s nice to be on a new course and chat with other humans.
Plus I have never run in this part of Calgary before so I am crossing my fingers for a sunny day – not too hot, not too cold – and happy legs. This run will also be a great test of my endurance. So far the longest distance that I have run this year is 24K. (That was a few weeks ago.)
I will not get caught up in the “racing” atmosphere. (I have to say this out loud a few times over the next few days while I stress about the run.( I think a reasonable time for me to visit is around 3:30 or under. That will give me lots of time to chill and live tweet my run (just kidding).
Yup so that’s where I am at this week. Wish me luck! I could use all the positive vibes that you are sending.
Have a great race!! The res is a great place to run, enjoy it 🙂
Thanks I am looking forward to running somewhere new.
I’m doing the 15k on Saturday 🙂 I think they are calling for a chance of rain, but let’s cross our fingers and hope that’s not the case!
NO rain please 🙂
I hope you have a great race! It’s funny how these things just happen and we’re signed up for all the races!
