I had a completely “pain-free” run for the first time in months and months. I wanted to cry with happiness. I ran later in the day because I stayed up too late watching movies. (Yes I am such a slacker.) Such a gorgeous winter day to be outside. Why can’t it be like this all winter? If I had stayed inside (like I was considering), I would not have seen this festive ornament on a tree.
I bumped into Paul, the streaker, on the Michener site. Paul was just finishing up his run with a coffee from Tim Hortons. He looked fresh and happy. Running does a body good! It’s always weird when you bump into your coworkers outside of work. But Paul is a runner so we automatically click.
Anyway getting back to my run, I felt free and alive. I didn’t look at my pace or my heart rate until I was ready to go home. (I only had time for an hour run because I planned to go to yoga.) I don’t know if it was the winter air or that I finally saw the new Star Wars but I felt fantastic on my run. Now it’s hours later since I ran and my foot has not complained once.
I don’t want to get too excited or jinx … maybe I am healed? Cross your fingers. I have much running ahead of me still. Taking one season off from running is enough.
I expect big things for my recreational running career in 2016!
Oh man. That had to feel great. I’ve been there more times than I care to think about, and running pain free is just about the best feeling in the world! Fingers crossed that there’s ton more to come!
