It’s been a couple months since I started writing my #RWR column for the paper. I have been getting some fantastic reviews from runners and non-runners. (Even the mayor is a fan.) In Friday’s column, I talk with Mark. You may remember I met Mark at Rundle’s Revenge in Canmore about a year ago. He’s also featured in my I am a Runner series.
But this time Mark opens up about being a vegan ultra runner. I think it’s timely because of the world climate change talks now underway in Paris. (Did you know you can reduce your carbon footprint significantly if you stopped eating meat and its byproducts?) Mark explains how he got into running and the reasons why he adopted a plant-based diet and lifestyle.
Maybe it will plant a little seed in your mind for change.
As I was saying, my column has been a smash. I think my crossfit gym likes it too. Imagine my surprise at my 6 a.m. class to see my awful squat pinned to the bulletin board.
Now I am even more determined to improve my mobility. I bought another Bikram hot yoga pass so don’t be surprised if the next column is about getting bendy. It’s wonderful to see the community support for active living.
I would love to hear from you if you know someone who has an interesting story to tell or column idea.
