I spent my country’s 148th birthday doing what I love – enjoying the great outdoors.
I convinced Tina that she needed to spent Canada Day climbing in Bragg Creek. We met at 8:30 a.m. at the Shell station in the town before heading to the West Bragg Creek Trails. I love this area so much and I was happy to take Tina to the summit of Moose Mountain.
We took our time and stopped to take picture after picture. It was perfect for hiking – not too hot and not too cold. I brought my Canadian and Peace flag for pictures. I offered my Canada flag to hikers as they passed. It was quite funny.

We didn’t see many people on the logging roads. It wasn’t until we reached the main hiking path that the people came. I was starving by the time we summited Moose. The return distance is 30km with a 2,200 or so metre elevation gain. Thankfully Tina had brought snacks.

It was a long day but it was so worth the four hour (return) drive. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Canada’s birthday – basking in all its glory. We were truly living the “true north strong and free” bit.
Looks wonderful!
I ended up going to Edmonton to watch England lose to Japan in the World Cup semifinals, though I had a couple of maple leaves about my person.
Awesome. Great way to spend the day, away from the crowds and doing what you do! Happy day, Peter!
Sounds like such a fun day! Great photos as well!
