Airplanes & X-rays

Sometimes I do cool things as part of my job requirements. Today it involved hanging upside down in a homemade airplane and hitching a ride on a B-17. I’m not that into planes, trains or automobiles.
I was happy to get up close and personal with some of the aircraft on media day for the Rocky Mountain House Airshow. It was a lot of fun. I love getting out of the office for the day.

But it always turns out to be a super long day. We’re driven by deadlines so it’s always a crazy day especially when stuff is behind schedule (which it usually is). I drove 210 kms today. I started at about 8:30 a.m. and I didn’t get back to the office until about 3:30 p.m. Then it was hurry up and go – file photos/write captions/write story/file photos/file story/breathe.
It was a great day but it sure was long! After I finished work, I drove straight to the clinic to hear the results from my X-rays. I was too nervous to wait another day. If they have to chop off my foot, I would rather know sooner than later.

I had to wait about an hour to see the doctor. The verdict? There’s no need for amputation. I will live. I will live to run another day. The doctor said both my spine and hips appear normal. He explained that I have inflammation in some part near my pelvis.

I have to take anti-inflammatory pills for the next 10 days. He said it’s very common. Basically this inflammation near my pelvis causes a chain reaction of hurt from my hip to my foot. I should be on the mend within no time. (He didn’t exactly say that but let’s pretend he did). I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I dreamed up a whole bucket load of potential diseases. (Thanks Google).

So all is good for now. I haven’t run since last Wednesday and I am still going to ease off the running for the time being. I want to let the drugs do the trick. Heal me!

I drove home in a crazy hail storm. It was very scary. I thought the hail was going to break my windshield. Crazy end to a long day.

  1. So great to hear you "only" have inflammation. Hoping the meds and some rest help 🙂

  2. So, yay for inflammation?! Glad to hear you should be healing quickly and SO glad you made it through that storm okay!!
