The 100 km racers began at 5 a.m. followed by the 50 km folks at 9 a.m.
I start at 11 a.m. It’s a late start and I am guaranteed to catch all of the mid-day sun rays. Lucky me. Fortunately I only have to run one loop so cross my fingers I am not out there all day. I had a little panic attack last night because I don’t know where I am going in the morning. The pre-race email said “ignore your GPS.” Crikey. That was my plan.
After a few panicky emails, I have it figured out. Yes I ran this race before in 2013 with Mark and we drove out here to train. But that was a long time ago and my memory is a little sketchy.
Speaking of Mark, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention him. This race brings back a lot of memories. It’s still hard to believe that he is gone. Too young and too soon. I will dedicate this run to Mark and his family.
I hope his spirit will be with me as I retrace his steps.
I hope you had a good run Crystal ๐ I think it's awesome that you dedicate your run to your friend. <3
Thanks Heather!
