Rainy day in Canmore

One soggy mess. That’s what I woke up to on Sunday in Canmore. It wasn’t ideal climbing weather. Still I drove out to the trailhead with hopes that a miracle would happen on my drive there. No such luck.

I had lots of plans. They all went out the window. I pulled over and stayed at the rain falling on my windshield.

I watched cars drive past me in both directions.

I googled “what to do in Canmore on a rainy day.”

I checked the forecast for the next couple of hours โ€“ rain. The rest of the province (according to Facebook) was embracing the snow. Surely it would reach Canmore. I did not want to be stuck on a mountain without the proper hiking gear. I learend yesterday in Banff that my gloves would not be up to the challenge.

I headed back down the winding road to some trails near the Canmore Nordic Centre. There I spent a couple hours running and wowing the tourists with my incredible skills. No joke.

All in all it wasn’t too bad of a day. It could have been worse. I managed to get two hours of running/hiking on my feet. My right leg/foot seems to be on the mend. It didn’t hurt as much on the downhills. Yay for small miracles.

It’s been a great three days of training. I have decided to do 3 days hard/1 day recovery for a few weeks. So far, so good. I am not training for anything specific right now. I just want to keep my endurance up there and work on my climbs while I can before the snow forces me inside.
Hope you’re having a great day.

Again thanks for reading!
