It was a beautiful fall day in Red Deer. Unlike most people on my Instagram feed, I did not have a race today. I wanted to run in this local 10K race but I completely flaked on registering and it filled up.
So it was back to riverbend for a short run (yes all my runs seem to be short) and hill repeats. I’m slightly bored with this route but it’s the only actual trail in the city. Everyday I dream of living closer to the mountains in a more scenic part of the world.
But you gotta deal with what you are handed (for now anyway). The trails were bursting with walkers and squirrels. My legs felt a little heavy at the get go but they worked their issues out around 3K. My shoulder did not give me too much grief. Yay! All in all it was a great run. (The hill repeats were okay too.)
Before I met my friend for our run, I gave my abs a little attention. You see I am determined to win this ab contest. I used the Tabata App on my iPhone for two sets. A tabata workout consists of 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest, eight times. Essentially you are working for two minutes. I decided to do ab mat sit-ups for one set followed by planking. Selma and I did this on Thursday after mobility class.
I made a large pitcher full of green smoothie this morning. I sipped on glasses throughout the day. I haven’t done this in awhile. Usually I just make enough for one glass. Today’s smoothie = kale/lettuce + pineapple + celery + water + scoop of plain green yogurt. Perfection.
Mostly it was a lazy day. I haven’t had one of those in awhile. I’ve been on the road a lot lately so it’s nice to get all those things done around the house that I have been neglecting. My clean laundry has been in my dryer for about a week and a half. Folding and putting laundry away is definitely on my list of things I would rather not do.
Tomorrow I am joining Laura for her 30K run. She is winding down her training for the NYC Marathon. I haven’t seen her in months so it will be great to catch up on things. I just hope my body is up to running 30K on pavement. I probably shouldn’t be going the distance but it’s rare anyone invites me to run with them! I can’t pass up the offer.
I am supposed to be tapering. In a week I will be running the Grizzly 50K.
Oops.
Is that a Tabata app? That is awesome! What is it called?
Have a really fun run tomorrow!!
Yes! Tabata Timer. It's free. It's great.
Have a great run that you're probably right in the middle of as I type! Am pretty sure they used a green smoothie for something when they made "The Exorcist"—just can't quite remember for WHAT though…..lol
lol you're cute! Bahhaaa! I love my green smoothies!
