Mid-week update!

Life has thrown every possible hiccup in my path lately. So much so that I have not had time to blog. I know I sound like a broken record. But judging from the blogosphere that I have been reading lately, I am not the only one who has been busy as a bee.

I hate neglecting my blog because I love writing about my experiences. I’ll give you a quick update on what has been keeping me off the web lately.

RUNNING

My training for Lost Soul Ultra is winding down. I can’t believe it’s less than three weeks away. I am excited and nervous at the same time. This will be my (gulp) second 50K. Oh my! My goal is obviously to finish. I am not at any point in my new recreational running career to put a time stamp on my races. I am excited to run the Moose Mountain 29K trail race on Saturday! This will be my last big run before Lost Souls on Sept. 6. Nervous!

CROSSFIT

Nothing new here. I still suck at Crossfit. I am going mostly three times a week. After my 50K race, I will bump it up to four times a week. I am not sure I am getting any stronger but I do find the more I go, the less I hurt. We have a great 6 a.m. bunch!

GARDENING

My glorious garden was victim to Red Deer’s recent hail storm. My poor Swiss Chard and lettuce were shredded. Thankfully my beets and carrots survived the storm. I have been enjoying a lot of salads lately. So good!

WORK

I have been super busy and feeling scattered at work. I have been writing some interesting features including one on a police sketch artist and a drag queen. Our paper underwent another round of job cuts last week. I survived this time but I don’t think I will make the next round. It’s very depressing to see people lose their jobs and to see the changes to the newspaper industry.

And that’s about it for now. I am going on holiday for one week after Lost Souls. I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to this big time out. Last year I took holiday in the summer months. I feel super tired lately and a good rest is in order!

    1. Hey mostly 32K. I did a couple this time around. But I like to do a LOT of hills and focus on "time on feet" like three hours or four hours etc

  2. wow, it's almost Ultra time already? Good for you for keeping up with your training throughout your busy summer 🙂
