Run home

I’ve always envied those people who can run to work and home again. In theory I need a vehicle for work so it’s not an option for me.

But since I am sans Versa for a few days I decided to hitch a ride in the morning and run home after work. (My bosses are okay with me being without wheels for a few days.) I have to run today so why not run straight from the office to my place?

Truth be told the run home was boring. I estimated it was a 7km trek. I was off by .5 kilometres. My route involved running 3.5 kms on one of the city’s main drags before turning down another. I left work about 5:20 p.m. so there were a lot of cars on the road.
The noise pollution didn’t ruin my run. I can usually drown out the traffic with a good playlist. My run was dulled by the flat, not very scenic and uninspiring streets. I also needed a potty break but there was no place in sight to go until I was nearly home. Sigh.
All in all it felt good to don sneakers and make tracks for home. I wish I could do this everyday. It’s a great way to try to undo the day’s sitting on my butt. I’ll run again after work tomorrow. Then it’s off to the trails for more hill work.
Hope you had a fabulous Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. It's funny because your route doesn't look boring to me at all! I drive to work, unfortunately I work way too early in the morning to even ride a bike, let alone run!

  2. I'm one of those lucky people who run home. It makes my training a whole lot easier to get in. Glad you got to give it a shot.

  3. Nice job on running home! I've biked home before (it's about 17kms one way), but have never run before.
