(Ultra) Marathon Monday: In Training for Lost Souls

Did I mention I am running a 50K trail race in two months?

I’m on the list for the Lost Souls’ 50K in Lethbridge on Sept. 6. It’s one of three distances slated for the race weekend. On the Friday, before I run my race, the 100 milers and the 100 kilometres runners will have already started (or in some cases finished) before I even glance at the starting line.

Here’s a pic of one of the hills in Lethbridge, the fourth largest city in Alberta. The race is routed around the vast coulees. It is going to be very, very challenging!

Hills, hills, hills and more hills are definitely in my immediate future. Tonight I ran short at Riverbend xcountry trails. My calves were tingling slightly from yesterday’s hilly run in Kananaskis. Ugh. I am going to have to take it easy so I don’t get injured.

Here’s a little preview of what’s in store for me in September!

It’s Canada Day tomorrow! And I am celebrating with an epic run that’s worthy of a 147th birthday!

  1. You're awesome. I just finished 5k for Canada Day and can't imagine ever running a half marathon let alone an ultra. :p

  2. I am totally envious that you are doing a 50k. I want to do one but have no idea how to train, lol. Happy Canada Day!!

    1. Happy Canada Day to you too! I am not sure what the heck I am doing. Ha ha lots of mileage and lots of hills. Time on my feet. ๐Ÿ™‚
