Brent and Yvonne are also signed up to run the 7.5K. It’s going to be painful but fun! This will be their first introduction into trail running. Hope they love it as much as I do.
I scooped the course description from the Wild Mountain Canyon Crawl website. I edited it for clarity and consistency.
Course Description:
Runners will head north from the ski lodge (830 metres) and runs parallel to the river. This first kilometre is essentially flat until reaching the “Rope Slope,” a steep bank with ropes to help runners climb.
From here the course dives into the forest adjacent to the Canyon Ski Hill and twists and turns its way on single track trails. Eventually it turns and heads south and re-emerges from the trees about a third of the way up the ski hill. It continues crossing the ski runs until reaching the high point (860 metres) of the lower section at about three kilometres.
From here it is downhill through the Start/Finish area. Runners continue south to the monster climb to the top. The course ascends via the forested luge run. Runners will reach the top at the 4.2 kilometre-mark (950 metres) where the course turns north again along the crest of the hill. It is relatively flat for the next kilometre until the high point of the course at 5.2 kms (964 metres).
