We’re not speedsters & track workouts are relatively new to us. Actually it’s kinda funny to see two women who are clearly not fresh out of high school or in college racing around a track.
Karen and a few others were also at the track. Football practice was over by the time we finished our warm up. Whew! Sometimes I am not in the mood for an audience.
I felt relatively good (as good as one can feel during intervals). I wanted to keep the same pace per interval. I started with 1:40 for the first lap and finished with about 1:43 on average. I wanted to make the workout harder so I decreased by recovery time to one minute. My pace was around the 4:00-4:14 mark.
There’s so many track workouts out there. I like that we’re easing into them with the 400m repeats. Next week we are going to start with the Yasso 800s. Basically the Yasso 800s are supposed to predict your marathon time. So if you can run 10×800 at 3:45, your marathon would be 3 hours and 45 minutes.
When I was training for the Calgary marathon, I did a few workouts but I never reached 10 repeats. This time around I am determined to get to 10.
What are your favourite track workouts?
