Five Things Friday

1) Highlight of My Week: I went to the Tragically Hip with Sona, Brent and Tara on Tuesday. I haven’t seen the Hip in a couple of years. Gord Downie continues to be amazing on stage. Hamilton-based the Arkells opened the show. I haven’t paid much attention to them over the years but now I’m a new fan.

2) Best run: I joined Karen for a short but fabulous run in her new neighbourhood which happens to be where I used to run all the time. Perfect. I see a lot of runs in our future together. Particularly because Karen and I decided we would train for the Okanagan Marathon together.
3) Longest day ever: Monday. I covered the usual city hall meeting. It lasted seven hours. I love my beat but these meetings are so stressful and draining. You have to pay close attention (and awake) and be ready to write quickly. I have a tight deadline for copy. Plus I never sleep well on council nights.
4) Best lunch: Chickpea salad with yellow and orange peppers, cranberries, cucumbers, walnuts, and chia seeds. Home made tangy dressing.
5) Made some holiday plans: I haven’t been on a holiday that didn’t involve running in a LONG time. I am going to Nova Scotia for two weeks in the summer. I am really excited to spend time in the province where I was born and spent my childhood. I am going to rent a car and drive everywhere. Okay a little confession…. I did research races. If all goes well I will be running Not Since Moses with my cousin Denise.
