CrossFit:
At 9 a.m. I met Catherine at Ignite so we could work on some skills. I had already gone to Crossfit 4 times this week. And the WODs were tough. I needed rest more than I needed to work on more skills. But I am glad I went. A few small things FINALLY clicked.
There was only one person in the OnRamp class and the swim club didn’t show up. We had a lot of space to work on our skills. Catherine was messing around with her snatch while I tried to find my way around performing a clean with proper technique. Megan, Dave and Brenda were also working out.
Lately I’ve been having trouble my technique. I am either pulling when I am not supposed to or not shrugging my shoulders. It really is too much for my brain to handle. We recorded each other lifting too. That really helped. Sometimes I wish there was a mirror so I could see what the heck I am doing. Coach Wade keeps saying practice and more practice will do the trick. In the end he said I was much improved since last week. Whew!
I also did a few sets of 10 pull ups and worked on toes and bars. Still there’s a lot of work to be done here. Glad I went.
Running:
I ran along the trails to Heritage Ranch and back for a challenging 10k. Trails were snowy, uneven and icy. There’s this one really long and winding hill at the 4.5k mark, right before one reaches the ranch. It is tough. I can always test my fitness on this hill. If I need to walk I know there’s work to be done. Last week when I ran with the group, I stopped and walked most of the hill. Today I was a little better. In the next bit, I am going to train on this trail. Lately I’ve been sticking to the roads. In the end running on these tougher courses will help with the ultramarathon training. I need hill action.
