We met about 5:45 p.m. I was the first to arrive so I stretched and ran a warm up lap. Jessica and I ran another lap together before getting to work. I decided to run 200m/400m/600m (x3) intervals since I had company. I left the Yasso 800s for next week.
We channelled Usain Bolt. I tied a small Jamaican flag around my ankle and Jessica wore her flag as a bandana. We were cool. We were fast.
I won’t lie. It was tough. I kept my huffing and puffing to a minimum. Still I struggle to keep my pace in check. I was dripping with sweat and gasping for air as I crossed the line on my final 600m. Jessica worked up a good sweat too. Not sure she’ll come back to the track with me again.

On Wednesday I returned to CrossFit. I used the training bar for the press (strength before WOD). My shoulder is feeling better but I seemed to have lost a little strength. Imagine my delight, however, when a running WOD was revealed. Guess what? It was the same intervals that we ran on Tuesday night. The only difference was the shorter recovery periods between the intervals. I knew I had some left in the tank to get this done.
There were only 3 of us in the 6 a.m. class. One woman did her own WOD and another guy bailed after running 400 metres. That means I was the only one doing the WOD. Talk about pressure. I felt bad for our coach who looked bored out of his mind. At one point he said to me, “This is a long WOD.” I said, “Yeah. I will try to run faster.“
Only 10 days until the Edmonton half-marathon! I feel strong!
