Adding herbs to my smoothies is my latest endeavour. This time I tried fresh parsley. I added a pinch too much. At first sip, all I could taste was the overpowering and bitter parsley. A splash of lemon undid the damage.
I’m exited to use different herbs. Parsley, for example, is often used as a garnish. But I’ve learned it’s quite the tool for fighting diseases and giving your immune system a powerful boost. I’ve never really used parsley in cooking. I’d buy a bunch, put it in the fridge, forget it was there. A week later and I am picking it up and tossing it in the trash. I used fresh cilantro in a smoothie once and it was fabulous.
Ingredients: fresh parsley, water, a few red seedless grapes, banana, apple, spinach, kale and a splash of lemon
If you’re a fan of green smoothies, I encourage you take a closer look around your produce section. Pick up a new herb or green. Try it in your smoothie. Have fun and get your green on.
