Come hell or high water, I was determined to run 10 miles (16 km) this morning. No excuses. I allowed myself to sleep in until 9 a.m. and I set out around 11 a.m.
I kept within the LSD pace (5:37 to 6:20/km) as suggested in my marathon training plan for the first 12 km.
Yes, I felt amazing for the first 3/4 of my run. I was mindful not to push it because I haven’t done a long run in weeks. The last 4 kms were slow and slower. My energy dropped and my belly was growling. It’s my own fault.
I continue to struggle with eating enough food during the day. I’ve got my breakfast down pat. I still have to work on eating enough between lunch and dinner. I know all the tricks of the trade. I just have to follow through on them.
With a little more than a month away from the Hypothermic Half, I have to nail these long runs. My speed work and tempo runs are coming along nicely. Got to get those LSD clocked so I don’t bonk.

Love this weather. I had a great LTR clinic last night. Everyone was in great spirits. I love seeing those smiles. I always loved my time teaching. It’s nice to get back to it but in a different way.
I’m super excited to see the progress of my runners throughout the 10 weeks. Already I see more confidence in the group and it’s only been 3 weeks.
Having confidence in knowing you can do something is always the biggest obstacle in my opinion. I hope I can inspire this group to keep on trekking.
