I’ve been moving non stop since I left Alberta more than a week ago. This morning it finally caught up with me. I woke up with a head cold and sore throat. I just want to stay in bed but I have more visiting to do.

Nasopharyngitis, acute viral rhinopharyngitis, acute coryza, a cold whatever – I think I have it.

It’s pretty drab and chilly outside. Yesterday Jean and I went for a two hour walk with the dog. Maybe this is why I feel so gross. My left leg was aching by the end of the walk. It’s only been a week since the marathon. I think my leg is pleading with me to take it easy for a bit longer. I wanted to run along the canal but it’s so damn chilly.

Jean and Barry hosted a family dinner with all their kids and grandchildren. I haven’t seen Katie and Sarah in 12 or so years. It was great seeing them and their kids. We’re grown ups! It seems like a lifetime ago since I first moved to Ottawa.

After dinner, I met Melissa, Nick and Arnold over at Local Heroes to watch a fight. I wore my medal. They were impressed. Bah!

I miss those guys. It was just like old times – good bantering and good humour. They haven’t changed much. Bruce was out of town so I didn’t get to see him.

I hope to see the twins tonight. From the pictures, I can see they look like Nicky!
