Imagine you’ve just run 18 miles and there’s still 8 more ahead of you. You’ve had enough. You’re spent. You’re tired. You just want to give up.

Suddenly like a light at the end of the tunnel. You look up and there’s a huge screen showcasing encouraging messages from family and friends.

This year ASICS is sponsoring a Support Your Marathoner. Friends and loved ones can write messages, record a video or whatever and the messages will be played during the marathon. Isn’t that cool? Check it out here

I wrote a message to Audrey already. I thought about singing a song but the last thing I want is my mug on the big screen.

There’s also a mobile App (see right) where you can watch your marathoner while she runs the course. There’s some sort of device in the bib that makes it all possible. Now if only the powers that be could develop something that would poke me or give me a sharp kick in the butt every time I wanted to stop…. then I would be even more impressed.

  1. So I started running on Saturday night, I'm sure you are happpy to hear. Ran basically 1km, in my halloween costume and stocking feet. There was no walking, which I am really impressed with. I was running to save Shannon from getting arrested, I think I might do it again soon!
