Call it the post-election blues

Voter turnout in the city pretty much sucked. I really thought it would be higher this time around. (Mind you I wasn’t here in Grande Prairie in 2007) But the way EVERYONE on social media sites, Twitter and in general, were yakking about voting, I thought the percentage would kick this term. Not the case. I believe it was something like 22% as opposed to 30% in 2007.
What went wrong?
In the county, the voter turn out was 28%, a higher figure (not sure what it was in 2007) than the last municipal election. I voted. And I am happy to say all my votes counted. All the candidates I supported won their spot on city council and around the public school board trustee table. Bravo to me.
It was a long night. Things went smoothly on my end. I did get lost in Clairmont but I managed to find out where I was going in the end. (Before I had a complete melt down).
It’s always so exciting to cover an election. There’s always a buzz in the air. While I was in the county and there wasn’t as much action, I quite enjoyed the experience.
