iFixit and into the void

I read an interesting article from the National Post yesterday about this new “movement” of purging. People are getting rid of all their junk in hopes of living a more simple life. Call it your anti-consumer movement.

I hate stuff. Don’t get me wrong, I love my BB and my MacBook Pro and my Garmin… but it’s just all the other junk. I could probably live out of my car. Lately I have been purging. My rooms are becoming emptier. The space and nothingness is calming.

A guy in the California runs iFixit, this cool website. Mostly, it’s for repair guides for Apple products. The mission statement is “we believe that the easier it is to fix something, the more people will do it. The only way to keep hardware out of the landfills is to increase the useful lifespan of our stuff.”
He wants people to submit their own repair guides too. It’s kinda like Wiki but for repair guides.
