Apparently there’s this environmental tax on larger appliances like TVs and computers. I had no idea. When I was charged an additional $25 to the final price of my new TV, I was quickly made aware. I don’t know if this tax is provincial or federal but it’s here in Alberta. You can forgive me for not knowing since I’ve been away from North America for years and I haven’t bought any big ticket items until now. Apparently the money goes to the recycling costs of the item. I’m not sure how exactly that works but I will find out. I like my money (what little I have of it) and I would like to keep it.
The Sens were swept tonight. I feel badly for my friends back home. At least their team made the playoffs, how ever short the run was, not like my beloved Oilers.
The weather is rash. One day it’s like plus 10 and today it’s sunny but we have winds up to 100 miles an hour. Not fun when you have to run. At least my run really challenged me tonight.
I have to work this weekend. Normally I wouldn’t care but I wanted to lock myself in my apartment all weekend and watch Sportsnet and TSN. Yes, I finally bought a TV. I just hadn’t got around to doing it. I know a lot of people say they can’t live without TV but I can. I guess Korea really waned me off the boob tube. Right now I just miss all the hockey and sports.
