the geckos are out to get me

So I have been in Phuket for five days. A lot has happened, some expected and unexpected. After securing relatively cheap accomodation, I settled in nicely to the beach life. I’ve been taking long walks along the beach and dressing like a native.

The Aussie and I have done a few day trips together. In particular, we went to Patong Beach to watch Muay Thai boxing. I was psyched. There was an international bout. Imagine my surprise when I learned it was Thailand vs. South Korea. So you know I had to attend. The Korean owns a Muay Thai gym some where in Korea and this was his first fight in Thailand. He won. And the Thai women love him. I was sitting beside this bytch that kept screaming and screaming. Don’t worry I have it on video so you all can hear what I mean.

I went off on my own to do a James Bond island tour complete with elephant trekking, rubber tree tapping and sea kayaking. I met a guy, David from Nepal on the trip who works here in Phuket. I ran into him on the beach front the next day so we we hung out last night on the beach drinking. It was Friday night but it was so quiet and peaceful where all you could hear the sounds of the waves crashing against the shore. We took a night time dip and walked along the shore.

So that’s about it so far. I should mention that I am getting really freaked out by the geckos. They keep following me around. Everywhere I look I see one. They are even in my bungalow at night. Spiders I could handle but geckos are creepy.

Tomorrow I will go to Ko Samui for a few days before I head up north to Bangkok.
