Refreshed and rejuvenated

To borrow a tired cliche: traffic was at a standstill all day in Seomyeon. Two of my students even walked to school because traffic was so song. One girl said last night she had to wait for three hours to get the subway home last night.

I feel like I am living in a police state. There’s so many riot police everywhere. And they don’t look amused.

I just got back from the bathhouse. I tried out the one up the hill from my apartment. Actually it is quite nice, newish and very clean. I only wish I tried this one out sooner. Many of the foreigners I know here get squemish when I mention going to the bathhouse. I guess they have a problem with being naked with a bunch of naked people. Sure I have issues with my body, who doesn’t have issues with their own? Of course people are curious about us because we’re foreigners but you get used to it just like everything else in Korea.

Now I feel so fresh and clean, and ready for a night of boozing with Lucy and Stacey.
