New kicks: Altra Lone Peak 2.5

Hey did I mention I won a free pair of sneakers on Facebook? I’m not even joking. You can win free stuff on social media. Another urban online myth busted! The proof is in my shiny new Altra Lone Peak 2.5. Aren’t they pretty?

These award-winning beauties were created to help people run better and reduce injury (Source: Shoe box). The altras are zero-drop and has a foot-shaped toe box. I don’t know if my picture does the toe box justice. (They are pretty funky looking.) I was super pumpted to try them on.

But they have been sitting in the box for more than two weeks. My injury sidelined me again. Oh but I did stare them intently for quite some time. Actually my co-worker’s wife borrowed them for a few days to get a feel for them. She said it felt like she was running on a cloud. She immediately went online and ordered a pair.

I was feeling good so I met Diane for a run around the Lacombe trails. We met at our usual meeting spot at 8 a.m. I couldn’t wait to run. I think all the yoga this past week has been paying off. My body was no longer in a full case of hurt. We settled into an easy pace. My Altras felt comfortable and natural. They had a little bounce to them. Loved it.

We only ran for an hour so it’s too early to determine how they would feel on a long run.

At first blush, I absolutely love them!

  1. First off, can I just say how fantastic your blog looks?? I was just here the other day and now I see you’ve moved, awesome!

That’s so awesome that you won a pair of running shoes! I tried to low drop and it didn’t work out for me, but I was doing a lot of things wrong at the time. Altras look pretty good!
