Lori: I am a Runner

Today I am featuring Lori, another awesome runner. Lori is a mom of three who is a self-proclaimed “workout junkie” who says it’s never too late “to start on your own journey to health and fitness.” Great philosophy!
Have a great Thursday. Go out and run!

Name: Lori Beneteau
Age: 44
City: Ontario
Profession: Business owner
Runner Since: 2013
1. Why did you start running?
What pushes you to keep going? I started running because a friend asked me to run a 5k race with her this past spring and after that race, I was hooked 🙂

2. What is your running/fitness routine for a typical week?
I try to run 3 to 4 days a week (It usually ends up being less in the winter when I need to use the treadmill), and I lift 4 to 5 days a week.

3. What is your favourite distance to run? I have only done 5k races, but I do like to run a trail close to home that is about 8km long.

4. Best running memory?
My funniest running moment was when I was almost run over by a deer on my running trail.  As I was running, I heard rustling leaves and then this big deer came flying down a steep hill on one side of me, and I had to jump out of its way to avoid being hit.

5. Do you run solo or with a group?
I sometimes run with one of my daughters, or my one of our dogs, but generally I love running solo – just me and the trail.

6. What is your dream race?
Some day I want to run a half marathon.

7. How many medals do you own? I only have two medals (some of the races I did this year didn’t give out any), but I hope to add to that collection in 2014.  I have a display rack hung in my bedroom.

8. Do you have any current running goals?
In 2014 I would like to try running a 10k race, and do more 5ks.

9. What is your worst running moment?
My worst running moment was a race this summer that was so hot and humid that everyone was sweating just standing and watching the race.  I had trouble running in the heat and humidity and there was a thunderstorm rolling in.  I finished second last and it started to rain and lightning just as I crossed the finish line.

10. If you could tell your younger (less experienced) running self something, what would you say? I’d tell my younger self to start running!!  It sure would have helped with stress over the years!

  2. I'm so glad you featured Lori because I had lost her blog address when I had issues with the computer and couldn't for the life of me remember what it was.
